城崎カンツリークラブ sits in Toyooka, a city in the northern reaches of Hyogo Prefecture where the Maruyama River meets the Sea of Japan coast. This corner of the Tajima region is best known to the world for Kinosaki Onsen, one of Japan's most storied hot-spring towns, where the tradition of strolling between 7 bathhouses in a yukata has drawn visitors for over 1,300 years. Golf here arrives wrapped in that same unhurried, restorative atmosphere — a round followed by an evening soak is about as civilized as a golf trip gets.
The surrounding landscape is defined by forested mountain ridges, river valleys, and the proximity to Sanin Kinosaki Marine World and the rugged Japan Sea shoreline. Courses in this part of Hyogo tend to work through hilly, wooded terrain, demanding accurate iron play and rewarding players who respect the natural contours rather than overpower them.
Toyooka sits within the San'in Kinosaki National Park region, meaning the scenery is genuinely dramatic regardless of how the scorecard treats you. For visiting golfers, the combination of mountain-framed fairways and one of Japan's great onsen towns makes this a destination worth the detour from the more-trafficked Kansai golf circuits.
