Chicago Golf Club

Few American golf clubs carry more historical weight than Chicago Golf Club. Founded in 1892, it holds a legitimate claim to being the first 18-hole golf course in the United States, and its pedigree only deepens from there. Charles Blair Macdonald — the father of American golf course architecture — designed the layout, drawing heavily on the Scottish and English links traditions he had studied firsthand. The result is a course of genuine antiquity and architectural significance, one that has been carefully preserved rather than modernized into something unrecognizable.

The club has hosted 3 U.S. Opens (1897, 1900, and 1911) and a U.S. Amateur, cementing its place in the game's American canon. It remains an intensely private members' club, which means most golfers will never walk it — making an invitation something to be taken seriously.
