Englewood sits on Florida's Gulf Coast between Sarasota and Fort Myers, a quieter stretch of southwest Florida that trades the condo-canyon bustle of Naples for fishing villages, wildlife refuges, and the broad, brackish expanse of Lemon Bay. The Myakka name connects to one of Florida's wildest corridors — the Myakka River State Park system running inland — and that sense of old Florida, scrubby and unhurried, tends to carry into the communities along this coastline.
Myakka Pines is a par-72 layout serving the Englewood area as the kind of everyday course that keeps local golfers on the course rather than driving north toward Sarasota's more polished clubs. Southwest Florida golf is year-round golf, but the shoulder seasons — October through November and March through April — offer the most comfortable conditions before summer's humidity and afternoon thunderstorms take over the afternoons.
The pine-flatwoods terrain typical of inland Charlotte County gives courses in this corridor their character: flat but firm, with water features doing much of the strategic work and accuracy off the tee mattering more than raw power.
