Lancashire's Fylde Coast has long been one of England's great concentrations of links golf, and Fleetwood Golf Club sits at the northern edge of that tradition, looking out across the Wyre Estuary toward the Irish Sea. The town of Fleetwood itself is a planned Victorian port, laid out in the 1830s to a formal grid — an unusual piece of industrial history for a stretch of coastline better known for dunes and sea breeze than urban design. The golf here belongs firmly to the links world: expect firm, fast ground, wind that can reframe every club in the bag, and the kind of sky that seems to arrive from a different direction every few holes.
As a members' club on this coast, Fleetwood occupies good company. Blackpool North Shore, Lytham and St Annes, and Royal Birkdale are all within reach to the south, making the Fylde one of the more quietly impressive regional golf corridors in the country.
