Daisen is one of the most dramatic backdrops in all of Japanese golf. The volcanic stratovolcano — sacred, snow-capped for much of the year, and often compared in silhouette to Mount Fuji — dominates the skyline of western Tottori Prefecture, and a course built at its foot carries that grandeur into every round. Tottori itself sits on the San'in Coast, a stretch of Sea of Japan shoreline known for its dune systems, pine forests, and a slower, less-pressured pace of life than Japan's golf heartland to the south.

グリーンパーク大山ゴルフ倶楽部 (Green Park Daisen Golf Club) sits in this highland setting, where the air is clean and the summers offer genuine relief from the lowland heat that punishes much of Honshu and Kyushu. The terrain in the Daisen-Oki National Park region is naturally undulating, and mountain courses in this part of Chugoku tend to reward course management over raw power.

San'in is not a region that sees heavy golf tourism, which gives courses here a local, unhurried character. Rounds are typically played at a relaxed pace among residents who know and love the landscape, and the mountain views — on a clear day, nothing in Japanese golf quite matches them.
