Brookwater Golf & Country Club

Greg Norman put his stamp on Australian golf in many ways, but Brookwater Golf & Country Club — opened in 2002 in the rapidly growing Springfield corridor southwest of Brisbane — stands as one of his design firm's most celebrated domestic achievements. The course occupies a landscape of dramatic elevation changes, exposed granite outcrops, and native eucalyptus, giving it a rugged, almost untamed character that contrasts sharply with the manicured fairways threading through it. It has consistently ranked among Queensland's finest layouts and regularly features in national top-course listings, a reputation earned by its strategic demands rather than mere length.

The design rewards players who think carefully off the tee. Fairways tumble and curve through the hilly terrain, and the greens — complex, undulating, and well-defended — mean that position almost always matters more than power. Several holes draw comparisons to marquee international designs, which was clearly the intention.

Springfield itself is a master-planned satellite city, and Brookwater was built as the centrepiece of that development — giving the club a distinctly contemporary feel while the bush surroundings keep the experience grounded in genuinely Queensland country.
