Few golf clubs anywhere carry the weight of expectation that Loch Lomond does. Opened in 1994 and designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, the course occupies the grounds of Rossdhu House — a 15th-century castle on the southwestern shore of Loch Lomond — and that setting alone would be remarkable enough. But Weiskopf and Morrish built something genuinely worthy of it: a layout that moves through ancient woodland, along the loch's edge, and across ground steeped in Scottish history, producing one of the most celebrated parkland courses in the world.
For over a decade, Loch Lomond was the regular host of the Scottish Open on the European Tour, drawing the world's best players and cementing its reputation as a genuine test at the highest level. The course rewards precision and course management over raw power, with tree-lined fairways and a loch that comes dramatically into play on several holes near the water.
Alexandria sits in the Vale of Leven, roughly 20 miles northwest of Glasgow, where the southern Highlands begin to assert themselves. The landscape here is genuinely spectacular — Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park on the doorstep — and playing here, membership or otherwise, is among the more stirring experiences Scottish golf offers.
