Midway sits in the Heber Valley, a broad mountain basin framed by the Wasatch Range about an hour southeast of Salt Lake City. The valley floor sits at roughly 5,600 feet elevation, and the peaks surrounding it push well past 11,000 — so when a course here calls itself "Mountain Course," it's earning the name honestly. Heber Valley's Swiss-settled heritage gives the towns their unusual character, and the landscape swings between lush irrigated meadows and rugged high-country terrain that few golf regions in the American West can match.
A par 71 in this setting almost certainly reflects terrain-driven routing decisions rather than a shortcut — courses at elevation contend with significant slope changes, prevailing winds, and the practical challenge of moving through a dramatic landscape without flattening it into something ordinary. Expect elevation changes that alter club selection in ways a yardage number won't fully prepare you for.
Midway itself hosts Homestead Resort and a cluster of courses that make the valley a legitimate Utah golf destination, drawing players who want mountain scenery without sacrificing course quality. Late spring through early fall is prime season here, with afternoons that cool quickly once the sun drops behind the western ridgeline.
