The Abu Dhabi Golf Club — home to one of the most recognizable courses on the DP World Tour — has been the centerpiece of professional golf in the UAE capital since the late 1990s. Designed by Peter Harradine and opened in 1997, the layout is most famous for its falcon-shaped clubhouse, an architectural landmark visible from across the sprawling property. The course has hosted the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for many years, drawing world-class fields and cementing the club's status as the premier competitive venue in the emirate.
The course itself plays through a sculpted desert landscape, where immaculate pale-green fairways are framed by white sand waste areas and ornamental water features. The conditioning is meticulous, as you'd expect from a showpiece venue in a city that takes hospitality and presentation seriously. Strategic bunkering and some demanding par 4s reward careful shot selection over raw power.
Abu Dhabi's golf scene reflects the broader ambitions of the emirate — polished, international, and built to impress. For visitors staying in the capital or making the short drive from Dubai, this course represents the standard-bearer for what Gulf desert golf can offer at its most refined.
