Medicine Hat sits in the driest corner of Alberta, where the Canadian prairies give way to genuine high-desert terrain — short-grass coulees, exposed sandstone, and a sunshine count that rivals anywhere in the country. Desert Blume Golf Club takes its name and its character directly from this landscape, offering a playing experience that feels meaningfully different from the tree-lined parkland courses that dominate much of western Canadian golf. The natural topography here does real work, and the setting alone makes a round feel like something more than a round.
As a standalone destination, Medicine Hat punches above its weight for golf, and Desert Blume is a centerpiece of that local scene. The semi-arid conditions mean firm, fast turf for much of the season, rewarding players who think about the ground game rather than simply flying everything at the flag.
