Few clubs in Fort Worth carry the institutional weight of Ridglea Country Club, which has been part of the city's social and sporting fabric since the mid-20th century. The Championship Course was designed by Ralph Plummer, the Dallas-based architect who left a quiet but significant mark across Texas golf, and it reflects his preference for classic parkland design — measured, strategic, and built to reward shot-making over raw power.
Fort Worth sits where the plains begin to roll toward the Cross Timbers, and Ridglea's layout uses that gentle topography well. Mature trees define the corridors, Bermuda turf dominates the fairways and greens, and the course plays firm and fast in the long Texas summer — conditions that demand precision rather than simply length off the tee.
As a private members' club, Ridglea offers the kind of unhurried, relationship-driven golf that's harder to find every year.
