麓湖高尔夫练习场 — "Luhu Golf Driving Range" — sits within the Luhu area of northern Guangzhou, a district that has long anchored the city's golf identity. Luhu Golf Club itself is one of the most historically significant golf facilities in mainland China, having opened in the early 1990s as part of the wave of international-standard golf development that accompanied Guangzhou's rapid economic rise. The Pearl River Delta region was among the first in China to embrace the sport commercially, and Luhu became a landmark address in that story.
As a stand-alone practice facility rather than a full championship layout, the driving range here serves the enormous demand that Guangzhou's urban golf community generates. It functions as an entry point for beginners and a maintenance ground for serious players — both are plentiful in a city of this size and ambition.
Guangzhou's subtropical climate means golf is genuinely playable year-round, with long, humid summers and mild winters. The lush, dense greenery typical of Guangdong province gives even a practice setting here a distinctly tropical feel that separates it from ranges in drier parts of China.
