Few clubs in the New York metropolitan area carry the kind of quiet institutional weight that Ardsley Country Club does. Founded in 1895, it ranks among the oldest country clubs in the United States, predating most of the famous layouts that would later define American golf. The club was central to the early development of the game in America — it hosted some of the country's first significant professional tournaments in the late 19th century, at a time when golf was still finding its footing on this side of the Atlantic.
The course sits along the eastern bank of the Hudson River in Westchester County, a stretch of New York that has long been home to some of the region's most storied private clubs.
