Soustons sits at the heart of the Landes de Gascogne, that vast, arrow-straight corridor of maritime pine forest stretching between Bordeaux and Biarritz along France's Atlantic coast. It's a region shaped by wind off the Bay of Biscay and defined by long, straight roads through resin-scented woods — and Golf de Pinsolle fits that landscape entirely, routing through pine and dune terrain that gives the course a natural, unhurried character typical of the better Landes tracks.
The course draws a loyal local membership and benefits from the region's mild, if wind-prone, Atlantic climate, which keeps it playable across most of the year. The pines provide definition and shelter on calmer days, but when the Gascony wind picks up — and it does — club selection becomes the real test. The sandy subsoil also means drainage is generally excellent, keeping conditions underfoot firm and consistent even after rain.
Soustons itself is a pleasant lakeside town, and the broader Landes coastline — the Côte d'Argent — is one of Europe's great surfing and outdoor recreation destinations. Pinsolle sits within easy reach of both Hossegor's more celebrated links and the Basque Country to the south, making it a natural stop on any golf tour of southwest France.
