Youghal Golf Course

Youghal Golf Club sits on the eastern edge of County Cork, where the Blackwater River meets the Celtic Sea — one of the more dramatic natural settings in Irish golf. The course occupies elevated ground above the historic walled town of Youghal, a place with genuine medieval bones: Sir Walter Raleigh once served as its mayor, and the town's streets and towers have been pulling visitors long before golf entered the picture. That backdrop gives the club a sense of place that courses built from scratch simply can't manufacture.

The layout is a traditional parkland-links hybrid, shaped by the coastal headland terrain and open to the wind off the water in a way that makes the same round play very differently depending on the day. The views across Youghal Bay toward Waterford are a recurring distraction, and the turf tends toward the firm and fast that Irish seaside ground produces naturally.
