Degeberga-Widtsköfle GK sits in the heart of Österlen, the southeastern corner of Skåne that many Swedes consider their most quietly beautiful landscape — rolling farmland, windbreaks of beech and oak, and a light that painters have chased here for generations. The club draws its name from 2 nearby villages and occupies terrain that is genuinely varied for this part of Sweden, with the gentle ridges and woodland breaks of the Kristianstad plain giving the course a more sheltered, contoured feel than the open links-style layouts found closer to the Skåne coast.
The course plays through a mix of open parkland and tighter, tree-lined stretches, rewarding accurate ball-striking over raw power. Österlen's agricultural character means you're rarely far from a field margin or a hedgerow, and the rural calm is a real part of the experience — this is unhurried, unselfconscious Swedish golf.
For visiting golfers, the surrounding area adds considerable appeal. Österlen is Skåne's weekend escape: close to Simrishamn, the medieval ruins at Ales Stenar, and excellent local food culture, the region makes a round here part of something larger than the 18 holes themselves.
