Callala RSL Country Golf Club sits in the Jervis Bay region of New South Wales, one of the more quietly rewarding corners of Australian coastal golf. The area is better known for its startlingly white beaches and some of the clearest water in the southern hemisphere, but the surrounding hinterland — low scrub, coastal heath, and eucalypt woodland — gives this part of the Shoalhaven district a character all its own.
A par 68 over 18 holes signals a layout built more for enjoyment and accessibility than championship examination. Shorter par 4s and a compact routing invite players to attack flags rather than manage distance, which tends to produce a lively, social round — the kind of game the RSL club model has always suited well. Expect a membership that knows every bounce and break intimately.
The RSL affiliation places this club within a proud Australian tradition of community golf — courses built by and for returned servicemen and their families, where the 19th hole carries as much cultural weight as anything that came before it.
