Zhaoqing has long held a special place in the Guangdong golf landscape — the city sits about 100 kilometers west of Guangzhou along the Xi River, surrounded by dramatic karst topography that defines much of this part of southern China. The limestone peaks, broad waterways, and subtropical vegetation of the region create a visual backdrop that few golf settings in the Pearl River Delta can match. The Seven Star Crags scenic area nearby gives a sense of just how striking this terrain is, and courses in the Zhaoqing area tend to reflect that topography directly in their routing and hazards.
A resort-style facility here fits naturally into what Zhaoqing offers: an escape from the density of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with golf paired with accommodation and leisure amenities geared toward longer stays. Guangdong's humid subtropical climate means the course stays green year-round, with the cooler months from October through March offering the most comfortable conditions for a full round.
For golfers based in the Pearl River Delta, Zhaoqing represents the kind of destination that justifies an overnight trip — the scenery alone shifts the experience well beyond what a day layout closer to the city can provide.
