Folgaria Old

High in the Trentino-Alto Adige plateau, Folgaria sits at roughly 1,200 metres above sea level in the Lavarone-Folgaria upland, a compact mountain resort better known through winter for its ski runs than for its fairways. The elevation and alpine terrain give any course here a character that lowland layouts simply cannot replicate — thin air, panoramic Dolomite sightlines, and a short playing season that runs through the warmer months before snow reclaims the plateau.

The name "Old" suggests this is the original layout at the facility, likely predating a companion or newer course. Mountain golf in this part of northern Italy tends to reward placement over power; tight corridors through conifer forest, firm turf that runs faster than it looks, and the constant mental adjustment to uphill and downhill lies all demand a more considered game than a player might bring from flatter ground.
