Woodstock Golf and Country Club

Woodstock Golf and Country Club sits on the southern edge of Ennis, the county town of Clare, occupying the grounds of the former Woodstock House estate. The course takes its name and much of its character from that 19th-century demesne, and mature woodland — oak, beech, and chestnut planted across generations — frames almost every hole. That tree cover gives the layout a distinctive enclosed feel unusual for west of Ireland golf, where open linksland tends to dominate the regional imagination.

Clare itself is better known as a county of traditional music and the Burren's limestone pavements than as a golfing destination, but Woodstock offers a genuine parkland alternative to the famous links of Lahinch just up the road. The course plays through undulating ground, and the old estate walls and specimen trees create natural corridors that reward accurate ball-striking over power.
