名倉カントリークラブ occupies the forested highlands of Shitara Town in northern Aichi Prefecture, a remote corner of the Okumikawa region where the Toyone and Shitara river valleys carve through steep, densely wooded terrain. This is mountain golf in the truest sense — the course works with the natural contours of the hills rather than against them, and elevation changes are a constant presence from the first tee to the final green.
The Okumikawa highlands sit well above the heat and humidity that blanket Nagoya and the Nobi Plain through summer, making this an appealing escape for city golfers willing to make the winding drive north into Aichi's interior. The surrounding landscape is dominated by cedar and broadleaf forest, and the course carries that same character — fairways framed tightly by trees, with mountain views opening up on the higher sections of the layout.
As a members-oriented country club in a rural setting, 名倉カントリークラブ has the feel of a private retreat rather than a resort destination. The pace is unhurried, the atmosphere quiet, and the golf demands course management over raw power.
