Camden Braes sits in Odessa, a small community just west of Kingston in eastern Ontario, on the transition zone where the Canadian Shield's ancient granite gives way to the limestone plains of the St. Lawrence Lowlands. That geological drama shapes the land here — rolling, rugged terrain with the kind of natural contours that give a course genuine character without needing much artificial help. The Kingston area has a modest but proud golf tradition, and Camden Braes has long served as one of the region's more respected private-membership options.
The name itself hints at the landscape: "braes" is a Scottish term for hillsides or banks, and the course leans into that heritage in its design philosophy. Members play through mature tree corridors and across terrain that rewards course management over raw power — the sort of layout where local knowledge earns its strokes across many seasons.
Eastern Ontario's shoulder seasons can be demanding, with springs that arrive late and autumns that sharpen quickly, but the fall color through this stretch of the province makes late-season rounds genuinely memorable.
