Few mountain resorts in northeastern Pennsylvania have leaned into four-season golf the way Eagle Rock has. Set in the ridge-and-valley terrain of the Pocono Mountains fringe near Hazleton, the course plays through an elevation-rich landscape where dramatic grade changes are the rule rather than the exception — the kind of setting that turns a straightforward iron into a genuine decision about club selection and ball flight.
Hazleton sits in Luzerne County, a region shaped historically by coal mining and now better known for its outdoor recreation. Eagle Rock itself operates as a private residential resort community, which means the golf experience carries the unhurried, well-maintained feel of a members' and owners' retreat rather than a high-volume daily-fee operation. The surrounding woodland scenery shifts noticeably with the seasons, and autumn rounds — when the hardwood canopy burns orange and gold across the hillsides — are something regulars tend to plan around.
For guests staying at the resort, the course functions as the centerpiece amenity, and the mountain air and relative seclusion give it a character distinctly different from the flatter, more exposed layouts found down in the valleys below.
