Hasvik Golfklubb sits at the edge of the possible — a full golf club operating above the 70th parallel on the island of Sørøya, off the northwestern tip of Finnmark. This is among the northernmost golf in the world, and the course leans fully into that identity. During the Arctic summer, the midnight sun makes genuine round-the-clock play possible, and the club has embraced that with late-night tee times that feel genuinely surreal. The landscape is raw and uncompromising: open tundra, bare rock, and the cold Barents Sea closing in on nearly every sightline.
Hasvik itself is a tiny fishing community, reachable only by ferry or a small regional airport, which gives any visit an almost expedition-like quality. The local golf scene is proudly grassroots — this is not a resort destination but a club built by a community that simply wanted to play the game on their own dramatic terms.
Expect firm, wind-battered turf, conditions that can shift violently within a single round, and an almost complete absence of trees. The course rewards patience and creativity over power, and the setting alone makes it unlike anywhere else you will ever play golf.
