Few golf settings in New England combine working-harbor atmosphere with genuine ocean-edge terrain quite like this one. Sebasco Estates sits on a rocky peninsula in Phippsburg, about an hour's drive up the Maine coast from Portland, where the New Meadows River meets Casco Bay. The resort itself has been a destination for summer visitors since the early 20th century, and the golf course is woven into that unhurried, old-Maine-summer tradition — the kind of place where tee times feel optional and the dress code is a dry shirt.
The layout is a 9-hole course played twice for an 18-hole round, which gives it a compact, intimate character. Spruce and fir frame most fairways, and the coastal air means conditions shift quickly — morning fog burns off to reveal sharp Atlantic light, and a breeze off the bay can turn a benign approach into something considerably more interesting.
This is resort golf in its most relaxed sense: not a stern examination, but an experience anchored in a genuinely beautiful corner of coastal Maine.
