Ulefoss sits in the heart of Telemark, a region better known internationally for its skiing heritage and the folk traditions that gave the telemark turn its name. The countryside here is defined by lakes, river valleys, and the quiet forests of inland Norway — a landscape that feels far removed from the coastal links that dominate Scandinavian golf's international reputation. Norsjø Golfpark takes its name from Lake Norsjø, the broad inland lake that forms the centerpiece of the local geography and lends the course its distinctly Norwegian character.
Telemark's short summers mean the playing season is compressed but intense, with long midsummer days giving golfers exceptional evening light well into the night. The terrain around Ulefoss offers genuine elevation changes and tree-lined corridors typical of Nordic parkland design, where errant shots are punished by dense woodland rather than rough or bunkers alone.
As a regional parkland layout in a part of Norway not heavily trafficked by visiting golfers, Norsjø offers an authentic local club experience — the kind of place where the membership knows every bounce and quirk by heart.
