Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club

Few stretches of linksland in Wales carry the raw, elemental character of the ground between Borth and Ynyslas, where the Dyfi estuary meets Cardigan Bay on the mid-Wales coast. Borth & Ynyslas is one of the oldest golf clubs in Wales, founded in 1885, and the course occupies a classic narrow links corridor hemmed by the sea on one side and the estuary on the other. That geography means wind is essentially a permanent playing partner — the same breeze can turn a manageable par into something humbling in either direction.

The layout is a traditional out-and-back links, and like many courses of its era it plays shorter than modern championship tracks but demands the kind of low, controlled shotmaking that only genuine links turf rewards. The firm, fast fairways and small greens punish anything aerial and ambitious.
