Few addresses in American golf carry more weight than the Los Angeles Country Club. Founded in 1897, LACC spent well over a century as one of the most famously exclusive institutions in the country — a club so protective of its identity that it declined to host major championships for decades simply to avoid the spotlight. That changed emphatically in 2023, when the North Course staged the U.S. Open to widespread acclaim. The South/Lake combination is the club's second 18, routing across the same storied Wilshire-corridor property, and while it plays in the shadow of its celebrated sibling, it occupies some of the same remarkable ground that makes the club's setting so improbable — a sprawling, tree-canopied landscape holding out against the density of one of the world's great cities.
Access is members and their guests only, which means the South/Lake sees little outside traffic and retains a quieter, more intimate character than the North.
Los Angeles golf sits in a mild, nearly year-round climate with lush conditions largely maintained through irrigation, and the club's mature tree cover and manicured turf give both courses a sense of remove that the surrounding urban reality makes genuinely extraordinary.
