Trump International Golf Club Dubai opened in 2017, designed by Gil Hanse — the same architect behind the 2016 Rio Olympics course and the restoration of The Country Club in Brookline. It was one of Hanse's most high-profile original desert designs, and it announced itself as a serious layout rather than a purely resort-style vanity project. The course plays through dramatic elevation changes that are genuinely uncommon for Dubai, with wide, linksland-influenced fairways that invite ground game strategy even in a region where aerial approaches dominate.

The club sits within the DAMAC Hills development in Dubailand, a master-planned community that gives the property a settled, estate-like feel. Dubai's desert climate means playing conditions are best from October through April, when temperatures drop to a range where walking feels feasible and the course's contours can be properly appreciated.

The Trump brand brings resort polish — practice facilities, a clubhouse with Gulf-facing ambiance — but Hanse's design holds up independently of the branding. This is a course worth playing for the architecture alone.
