Samanah Country Club

Samanah Country Club sits on the Haouz Plain southwest of Marrakech, where the arid flatlands give way to dramatic views of the Atlas Mountains rising along the horizon. The course opened in 2008 as part of an ambitious residential and hospitality development, and the layout was designed by Kyle Phillips, the American architect behind Kingsbarns in Scotland and a number of other well-regarded courses built during golf's international expansion era. Phillips worked with the open, semi-desert terrain rather than against it, shaping wide fairways framed by olive trees, Aleppo pines, and native scrub that root the course firmly in the Moroccan landscape.

The design plays as a genuine test for accomplished players while remaining accessible to resort-caliber guests, reflecting the country-club ambition of the broader Samanah estate. Water features appear at key moments without overwhelming the routing, and the Atlas backdrop gives the property a visual drama that few courses on the continent can match.

Private membership governs access, so visitors arriving through Marrakech — a 30-minute drive northeast — will need a formal introduction or residential connection to get on the course.
