Elkford sits at the upper end of the Elk Valley in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, hemmed in by the Rockies and the Lizard Range — one of the more remote settings you'll find for a full 18-hole layout anywhere in Canada. The town exists largely because of coal mining, and Mountain Meadows reflects that working-community character: this is a course built for the people who live here, not for destination travelers passing through.
At this elevation, the season is compressed but vivid. The fairways open when the snow clears from the surrounding peaks, and by summer the mountain air is cool and sharp, the light long and clear. Expect firm turf, unpredictable afternoon winds funneling through the valley, and a landscape that shifts between open meadow and mountain-framed corridors — the kind of backdrop that makes an ordinary round feel anything but.
A par 71 hints at a layout with some shorter or one-shot variety built into the card. Whatever the routing delivers, the setting itself carries weight that no scorecard can capture.
