Bomber Bayou Golf Club sits on Barksdale Air Force Base, home to the 2nd Bomb Wing — one of the longest-serving bomber units in the United States Air Force and the only active-duty B-52 base in the country. That heritage runs through everything here, from the name on down, and the course serves the military community that keeps this massive installation running along the Red River in northwest Louisiana.
The setting is classic northern Louisiana — flat to gently rolling, wooded with loblolly pine and hardwood, humid summers, and mild winters that make year-round play genuinely possible. The Red River corridor has its own quiet character, distinct from the bayou country further south, and the base's grounds carry that open, purposeful feel common to military installations across the South.
At par 70, Bomber Bayou plays shorter than a traditional championship layout, which suits a facility built around accessibility and high volume of play. Military golf courses tend to foster a real culture of the game — regulars who know every bounce, a welcoming atmosphere, and golf that's straightforward, honest, and fun.
