Nullarbor Links - 90 Mile Straight

Few golf courses on earth make as bold a claim on a player's imagination as this one. Nullarbor Links is the world's longest golf course — stretching roughly 1,365 kilometres across the Nullarbor Plain between Ceduna, South Australia, and Kalgoorlie, Western Australia — and the 90 Mile Straight hole at Caiguna sits along the longest straight stretch of road in Australia, a hypnotic 146.6-kilometre ribbon of highway with no bend whatsoever. Each of the course's 18 holes is a par-3 located at a roadhouse or town along the Eyre Highway, and this is one of the most remote of them all.

Playing here means pulling off the highway, retrieving a club from the boot, and taking a swing on a small outback green surrounded by bluebush and saltbush scrub under an enormous sky. The "course" is literally the road trip itself, completed over several days.

Caiguna sits in the heart of the treeless Nullarbor, a limestone plateau of stark, flat immensity. There is no drama in the landscape — only scale, silence, and the kind of solitude that recalibrates a person.
