Eksjö Golfklubb sits in the heart of Småland, a region of southern Sweden that shaped much of the country's identity — its forests, its stubbornness, its quiet pride. Eksjö itself is one of Sweden's best-preserved wooden towns, a place where 17th-century streetscapes survive largely intact, and the golf club carries something of that same unhurried, rooted character. The course occupies the kind of undulating, pine-and-birch landscape that defines inland Småland: firm, sandy soil, natural elevation changes, and the ever-present scent of resin in the air.
The terrain does the heavy lifting here. Småland's glacially shaped topography gives designers ready-made drama, and Eksjö's layout works with the land rather than against it — fairways that lean and roll, greens that reward local knowledge, and treelines close enough to demand genuine ball-striking discipline. This is not a course that flatters the casual visitor.
For golfers traveling through this part of Sweden, Eksjö offers something genuinely valuable: a club that belongs to its place, serving a community rather than performing for outsiders. The standard of Swedish club golf is consistently high, and Eksjö is a solid, honest example of what the country does well at the regional level.
