Fingal sits at the far eastern tip of the Mornington Peninsula, where the land narrows to a thin strip between Western Port Bay and Bass Strait. It's a remote, windswept corner of Victoria — barely a township at all — and the terrain here has a raw, coastal edge quite different from the manicured resort golf found closer to Portsea and Sorrento. Playing anywhere out here means contending with sea breezes that can shift without warning and a landscape that feels genuinely exposed.
The Legends Course is part of the Moonah Links complex, one of Australia's most celebrated golf destinations. Moonah Links opened in the early 2000s and brought serious design ambition to the Peninsula, with the site's native moonah trees — gnarled, sculptural coastal teatrees — giving the property its name and its most distinctive visual character. The Legends Course sits alongside the better-known Open Course, which has hosted the Australian Open on multiple occasions.
Where the Open Course draws most of the competitive attention, the Legends layout offers a slightly more accessible experience while still delivering the firm, fast-running conditions and wild coastal atmosphere that make this stretch of the Peninsula worth the drive from Melbourne.
