Campo de Golf Aak Bal

Champotón sits on the Gulf of Mexico coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, where the Champotón River meets the sea — a town with a history stretching back to the pre-Columbian Maya and later a site of early, bloody encounters between Spanish conquistadors and indigenous defenders. Campeche state is one of Mexico's least-touristed corners, a place of mangroves, tropical lowlands, and a coast that feels genuinely remote compared to the resort corridors of Cancún or the Riviera Maya to the east.

Aak Bal — a Mayan phrase generally associated with the night turtle, a figure in Maya cosmology — takes its name from that deep regional identity. The course plays through the flat, humid terrain typical of this stretch of the Gulf coast, where tropical vegetation, coastal breezes, and the ever-present heat shape every round. Water, in the form of lagoons and natural hazards native to the landscape, is a recurring feature of the design.
