Palmyra sits in the rolling farmland of northeast Missouri, Marion County's seat and a town with deep Civil War history. The surrounding landscape is classic Missouri river country — gentle hills, hardwood timber breaks, and open ground that shifts with the seasons, brutal in a July heat wave and quietly beautiful in the long light of a fall afternoon. Golf out here has always been a community affair, rooted in the everyday rather than the exclusive.
Jackson Park Golf Course reflects that tradition. An 18-hole, par-70 layout at a public course in a small Midwestern town typically means a walkable, unpretentious track where locals know every bounce and break, and where the game is played for the pleasure of it rather than for spectacle. Par 70s often trade a couple of the longer par 4s for shorter, more tactical holes, which can reward shot-making over raw distance.
If you're passing through northeast Missouri — perhaps along the US-24 corridor — Jackson Park offers the kind of straightforward, honest round that the region's golf culture does well: accessible, unhurried, and genuinely welcoming to the stranger who shows up with clubs in the trunk.
