Few golf experiences along the Gulf Coast carry the same weight as Fallen Oak. Developed by Beau Rivage Resort and Casino and designed by Tom Fazio, the course opened in 2006 as a genuine private retreat for resort guests — a deliberate statement that Mississippi could host world-class golf on par with any destination in the country. Fazio moved enormous amounts of earth to create a rolling, wooded landscape that feels nothing like the flat coastal terrain surrounding it, threading fairways through towering longleaf pines and oaks in a way that gives the course a distinctly Carolinas-style character. It has consistently ranked among the top courses in Mississippi and drawn recognition in national rankings.
Biloxi sits on the Mississippi Sound, a city rebuilt and reimagined after Hurricane Katrina reshaped the Gulf Coast in 2005 — making Fallen Oak, which came just a year later, something of a symbol of that revival.
The layout plays as a genuine challenge for accomplished players while remaining memorable for resort guests simply looking for a special round. The isolation from the casino floor, the quiet of the pine forest, and the polished conditioning all combine to make it feel like a significant occasion each time out.
