Few municipal golf facilities in America are as deeply woven into a city's recreational fabric as Rancho Park, and the 3-par course sitting alongside the famous regulation layout is a genuine piece of that legacy. While the full 18-hole course next door has hosted U.S. Open qualifying and drawn Angelenos for generations, the executive layout offers a more intimate way to engage with one of the busiest public golf operations on the West Coast.
Los Angeles doesn't get enough credit as a golf city, but Rancho Park — anchored in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood on the Westside — has long been a proving ground for the region's everyday players. The climate here is about as forgiving as golf gets: mild year-round temperatures, coastal influence from nearby Santa Monica, and reliably playable conditions in nearly any month.
An 18-hole par-71 layout on a short course means a healthy mix of par-3s alongside some slightly longer tests, making it a useful venue for beginners building confidence, seasoned players working on their short game, or anyone who just wants to get out quickly and still feel like they've played a complete round.
