Golf de Las Martines

L'Isle-Jourdain sits at the western edge of the Gers, the deeply rural département that forms the heart of Gascony — Armagnac country, foie gras country, a landscape of rolling hills, sunflower fields, and river valleys that feels largely untouched by the 21st century. The town itself is an old bastide on the Save river, about 40 kilometers west of Toulouse, and it functions as something of a gateway between the Occitan metropolis and the quieter agricultural south. Golf arrived here as it did across much of rural France in the 1980s and 1990s, when regional authorities invested in leisure infrastructure to draw visitors beyond the autoroute.

Golf de Las Martines is a parkland layout that makes the most of the Gers' gently undulating terrain. The course plays through open countryside with long views across the Gascony hills, the kind of setting where the surroundings do much of the heavy lifting in creating atmosphere.

For visitors based in Toulouse or passing through on a broader trip through the southwest, Las Martines offers an unhurried, genuinely rural round — the antithesis of a resort showpiece, and often more memorable for it.
