Par 58. Just over 3,000 yards. On paper, it sounds like a warm-up — but Blackberry Farm GC in Cupertino earns its place on the map in other ways.
This is golf at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where the South Bay's last traces of orchard country still linger. The course plays through what feels like a different Cupertino than the one the tech campuses occupy — shaded, unhurried, intimate. At par 58 with an 18-hole layout that barely clears 3,000 yards from the tips, every hole is a short par 3 or par 4, meaning the premium is entirely on iron play, touch around the green, and shot-making that a longer course never quite demands in the same concentrated way.
The slope of 93 and course rating of 57 confirm what the yardage implies: this isn't meant to punish, but it can certainly expose a sloppy short game. Afternoon rounds here move quickly, which makes it a natural fit for the early-morning commuter golfer or the player who wants 18 holes without surrendering a full day.
There's something genuinely pleasant about a course scaled to the land rather than imposed upon it — and in a valley where space is precious, Blackberry Farm plays like a small, considered pleasure.
