Mora GK sits in the heart of Dalarna, the Swedish province that many Swedes consider the country's cultural soul — a landscape of dark pine forests, mirror-still lakes, and the Dalälven river system that gives the region its name. The course occupies terrain that is genuinely Scandinavian in character: rolling, forested, with the kind of quiet that makes you aware of birdsong between shots. Summers here bring long Nordic daylight, meaning evening rounds stretch well past what most golfers elsewhere would consider closing time.
Mora itself is best known as the finish line of the Vasaloppet, the world's oldest and longest cross-country ski race, and the town carries that same unhurried, outdoor-oriented identity into its golf. The club is a solid regional track serving a community where sport and nature are taken seriously year-round.
The short playing season — typically May through September — concentrates the local golf calendar, giving the club a sociable, make-the-most-of-it atmosphere that's characteristic of courses this far north in Sweden.
