Few courses in Southern California announce themselves quite like Tukwet Canyon does. Set against the rugged terrain of the San Gorgonio Pass, the layout sits at the edge of where the Los Angeles basin gives way to the high desert, with the towering San Bernardino Mountains forming a backdrop that shifts in color and shadow throughout the round. The Morongo Band of Mission Indians developed this facility as part of their broader resort presence in the region, and the course carries that sense of ambition — this is not a municipal afterthought but a destination built with a genuine investment in the game.
The canyon terrain is the defining character here. Elevation changes, exposed ridgelines, and native scrub vegetation create a course that plays very differently from the manicured flatness of many Inland Empire tracks. Wind through the pass is a constant variable, turning straightforward yardages into genuine puzzles.
Beaumont itself sits roughly midway between Palm Springs and the San Bernardino Valley, making Tukwet Canyon a natural stop for golfers moving between those two golf-rich corridors — or a worthwhile destination in its own right.
