San Jorge Golf Club occupies a leafy stretch of the Greater Buenos Aires suburban belt, in the partido of Lanús — one of the densely populated districts that fan out south of the capital along the Riachuelo plain. Remedios de Escalada itself is a historic railway town, its grid of tree-lined streets a remnant of the British-built infrastructure that once stitched the pampas together, and that same Anglo-Argentine sporting culture gave rise to golf clubs throughout these suburbs in the early and mid-20th century.
San Jorge is a private members' club in the classic Buenos Aires mold: a social and sporting institution as much as a golf destination, where families return across generations and the clubhouse life is as important as the round itself. The flat pampa terrain typical of this corridor means the course relies on mature tree corridors, strategic bunkering, and ground-game demands rather than dramatic elevation to create its tests.
For visiting golfers, the broader southern GBA club circuit — which includes several well-regarded private layouts within a short drive — rewards those willing to explore beyond the capital's more prominent venues.
