Lismore Golf Club

Lismore Golf Club occupies one of the more atmospheric settings in the south of Ireland, laid out in the shadow of Lismore Castle — the Irish seat of the Duke of Devonshire and one of the most striking castle silhouettes in the country. The course sits along the Blackwater Valley, a landscape of dense woodland, river meadows, and the kind of deep green that only the wet, mild climate of County Waterford can produce. Playing here, the castle towers above the town on its rock shelf, visible at various points on the course, giving the round a sense of place that few layouts in Munster can match.

The club itself is a classic rural Irish members' course — unpretentious, community-rooted, and genuinely welcoming to visitors. The Blackwater Valley setting means the terrain is gently undulating rather than dramatic, but the mature trees and natural boundaries give individual holes real definition.

Lismore is a small town with an outsized heritage: cathedral, castle, and a river famous for its salmon fishing. The golf here feels in keeping with all of that — quiet, proud, and deeply local.
