Frösön is an island in Lake Storsjön, the large body of water at the heart of Jämtland county in central Sweden — a region better known for its mountains, elk, and some of Scandinavia's finest winter skiing than for golf. The island sits just west of Östersund, the provincial capital, and the setting is genuinely striking: open water on most horizons, with the fells of Åre visible on clear days to the northwest.
Norderöns Golfklubb occupies the northern end of Frösön, where the terrain is relatively open and the views across Storsjön are a constant presence. The course plays as a solid Jämtland club layout — not a destination track by national ranking, but a well-regarded members' club that serves a region where the short season (typically late May through early October) concentrates a real passion for the game into just a few months of long Nordic daylight.
Golfers visiting Östersund for the first time often find this combination of island geography, mountain backdrop, and midnight-summer light genuinely hard to match anywhere in Sweden.
