Coral Ridge Country Club occupies a storied place in Fort Lauderdale's golf history. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1954 as the centerpiece of a planned residential community — one of the earliest and most ambitious examples of golf-course real estate development in South Florida. Jones shaped the layout to work with the flat Broward County terrain, leaning on water hazards, strategic bunkering, and generous but demanding greens to create challenge where topography offers little natural drama.
Fort Lauderdale sits at the heart of one of the densest concentrations of golf in America, where a subtropical climate keeps the game going year-round and the competition for quality courses is genuine. Coral Ridge holds its own in that company — a private club with a membership that has long taken pride in the course's mature tree canopy and classic mid-century design sensibility.
Playing Coral Ridge feels distinctly different from the resort-polished, modern layouts that dominate the region. This is a members' course in the truest sense: a place shaped by decades of club life, local rivalries, and a community built, quite literally, around the game.
