Didsbury Golf Club sits in the heart of Alberta's Chinook country, about an hour's drive north of Calgary on the edge of the foothills transition zone where the prairies begin to flatten out after their long roll down from the Rockies. Didsbury itself is a quiet agricultural town in Mountain View County, and the golf here reflects that honest, unpretentious character — a community club built by and for the people who live and work in this stretch of central Alberta.
The course plays through open prairie terrain where the wide sky is as much a feature as the fairways themselves. Wind is a constant factor in this part of the province, capable of turning a straightforward layout into a genuine test on any given afternoon, and the dramatic views toward the eastern slopes of the Rockies on clear days are a legitimate reward for making the drive out.
As a member-owned rural club, Didsbury offers the kind of relaxed, unhurried round that has largely disappeared from busier urban courses. Pace of play is rarely a concern, green fees remain accessible, and the atmosphere carries the easy camaraderie typical of small-town Alberta golf at its best.
