Few courses in Canada carry the civic and competitive weight of Angus Glen. Located in Markham, Ontario — one of the Greater Toronto Area's fastest-growing communities — the club has hosted the Canadian Open twice, in 2002 and 2007, cementing its reputation as one of the country's premier tournament venues. The North Course, designed by Doug Carrick, opened in 1995, with the South Course following in 2000. Both routings were carved through gently rolling terrain on what was once agricultural land at the edge of the GTA, and Carrick gave them a classically influenced, parkland character: wide fairways bordered by mature trees, bold bunkering, and greens complexes with genuine strategic depth.
The South Course drew the bulk of the professional attention, and its conditioning and scale have made it a benchmark for modern Canadian parkland design. Angus Glen sits alongside a broader Markham golf corridor that benefits from the region's warm, humid summers.
Par 73 layouts are uncommon at this level of course, suggesting a routing that leans into its longer par 5s as genuine tests rather than routine birdie opportunities — expect a card where those extra strokes come at a price.
