Green Valley sits in the Santa Cruz River valley about 25 miles south of Tucson, surrounded by the Santa Rita Mountains to the east and the Sierrita Mountains to the west. It's a retirement-oriented community that has quietly developed into a surprisingly active golf destination, with several courses woven through its residential developments. The high desert here sits at roughly 2,900 feet, which means the air is clear, temperatures are more forgiving than Phoenix, and the landscape runs to saguaro, palo verde, and mesquite rather than lush fairway grass — giving any round here a distinctly Sonoran Desert character.
Without more specific records on hand, the honest thing to say is that "North" almost certainly refers to one of the courses in the Green Valley area's cluster of community and semi-private layouts — likely a companion course to a "South" or similar configuration, the kind of setup common in Arizona's planned retirement communities.
What the setting reliably delivers is unhurried desert golf with long views toward mountain ridgelines, dry winter air, and the kind of pace that comes when a course is built for residents who play it regularly and know every bounce.
